After rebuilding the motor, some unorthodox rewiring, I was left with the task of making my JWT tune "work" with my 740cc Deatschwerks injectors. Because I barely have 20 minutes to dedicate to any task I take on at my house, I decided to farm out the tune to a local honda tuner (who also owns a turbo V8 240Z). We strapped it to the dyno last night, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Before: 384HP at 18PSI, but detonating up top, and way too rich (richer than 9:1, if the trend line continued down)
After: 430HP at 18PSI, no detonation, nice A/F, and a little more timing. Of note: the WB02 sensor at the dyno read about half a point leaner than the AEM UEGO in the car. So, if you split the difference, under boost it hangs at around 11.8:1.
To do: I'm in desperate need of a Selin kit, a better exhaust (to replace my 2.5" Borla cat back, stock midpipes, and el-cheapo downpipes that Z1 sent with the GT600R turbos), and the SZ breather update. The next time I pull the motor, I'll be swapping some MSP manifolds in as well. All things I should have done the first time around, but I was already in ~$10k, and was running dangerously high on the "Spousal Eyeroll Index" when asking to do more.
